Archival Records, sound installation opens 11th February 2010 in Asia Art Archive
[11th Floor Hollywood Centre Hong Kong], 6.30-8 pm Developed during Artist in Residency program of Asia Art Archive, Archival Records intends to articulate the Archive’s physical and material space through the medium of sound, and establish a new connection between the Archive’s ‘voices’. It focuses on the realm bridging textual readings (of printed material) and their vocal counterparts, through multilingual audio recordings of excerpts from the collection, supplemented by ambient sounds at the Archive. This sound installation not only aims at exploring the idea of the Archive, but also rediscovering the mechanics of sensory experiences and aural cognition through a composed technological mediation of experience. exhibition will run for 3 months.
_habitus in Never Records Store, NY
audio CD _habitus is sold in Never Records Store, a pop-up "artists' record shop" located in the old Tower Records store on East 4th Street and Lafayette Street in Manhattan.
Never Records is a temporary store organized by artist Tom Reiderer, and made possible by an organization called "No Longer Empty" that donates empty storefronts to artists for public art projects. Other participants of on-going project ((audience)) were invited to join. the store will run from 15th January to end of February 2010.

"Asia Art Archive invites artist Cédric Maridet to talk about his exploration of the Archive’s soundscape during his residency. In his talk, Maridet will present the first phase of research from his residency, in which documents from the Archive, reflecting the various aspects of sound, are surveyed. These texts will be then turned into audio texts exploring the different voices of the Archive. Upon the completion of the three-month-long residency, a selection of these sound texts, along with recordings from AAA’s physical environment will form an on-site installation at the Archive, re-directing visitors’ research habits, thereby, inviting an alternative exploration of the Archive through sound. A presentation-cum-performance by Maridet at AAA is scheduled for 29th January 2010."
